Student-Vocal Manifestation – SVI u akciji! / They Live
Performance within the international project ‘They Live – Student Lives Revealed Through Context-Based Art Practices’ Student-vocal manifestation ‘SVI u akciji!’ will be held on 28 April 28 at 8 p.m. in the Creative District in Skladište, as part of the opening of the Flags of the Future programme.
Student Association of the University of Novi Sad together with the Cultural Centre ‘Studentski grad’ from Belgrade, have opened a call for students from Novi Sad, who are interested in becoming a part of ‘Student Vocal Manifestation’, under the leadership of the artistic-curatorial duo consisting of Bojana S. Knežević and Vladimir Bjeličić, within the international project ‘They Live’.
Guided by the idea to gather young people, hear their voices, and encourage them to articulate themselves socio-politically, Knežević and Bjeličić assembled a group of students, and through a series of conversations came up with the idea of realising a unique spatial and sound installation with the symbolic name ALL (SVI – Student Vocal Manifestation) IN ACTION!. While working on the project with the help of the artist and curator, the participants Sara Mladenović, Tamara Knežević, Jovana Dugonjić, Filip Mijić, Jovana Tašin, and Marina, Marica, and Katarina Simović all participated equally in discussions, writing lyrics and composing songs but also designing the exhibition.
By using an open mic or karaoke, as well as collages based on archival photographs of student lives from the past and digitally generating a constantly emerging songbook, they’ve created a symbolic space of community that reflects the views of current students of the University of Novi Sad, but also gives the audience an opportunity to comprehend needs, attitudes, and beliefs of young people in the local context.
