Suba Room
The interactive installation ‘Suba Room’ by the ‘Nove uši’ Association for the Promotion of Contemporary Music Art will run from 20 to 26 November within the Other? Europe programme arch. The exhibition ‘Suba Room’ will open on November 20 at 5 p.m.
The structure of this interactive installation features the presentation of the life and work of the pioneer of electronic music in the former Yugoslavia, Mitar Subotić Suba, based on artefacts, documents, archives, audio and video materials.
The audience will have the opportunity to attend the audiovisual presentation of Suba’s works created before he left for Brazil in 1990 and see the artefacts relating to his life and work. In addition, there will be a promotion of CD ‘Suba: Novi Sad’ with Suba’s comprising Suba’s music of various genres chosen by his friend and comic book artist Zoran Janjetov Jane and the promotion of the book by Lazar Džamić. ‘Suba Room’ is part of the project ‘Suba: Novi Sad’, within which the sound installation ‘The Dreambirds’ is being held.
The cult composition ‘The Dreambird’ is a sound installation that has been staged in various forms around the world, while it was staged for the first time in Novi Sad in 1987. The first record of this composition was preserved and published in Brazil. The new integral record on double vinyl, released in Brazil, will be presented for the first time to the visitors of ‘Suba Room’.
The interactive installation of various formats, ‘Suba Room’, will present different programme contents and how people perceive it. In addition to the exhibition, there will be spoken-word programmes, premieres of new releases, projections of video material and, mostly, Suba’s music and the joint music-making of his friends, associates and admirers.
Audio and visual materials within the exhibition will be installed to allow the audience to choose the content.
The curator of the exhibition is Bosiljka Zirojević.
The exhibition space that will remain open for seven days, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., will be the framework for programme contents with different topics:
