Superfluous / Youth Deal on Cultural Participation in Europe
During the conference ‘Youth Agreement on Cultural Participation in Europe’, we will have the opportunity to watch the play ‘Superfluous’, at the SCCNS Factory on 21 March at 8.30 p.m.
In the spring of 2020, the dancers of the EN-KNAP Group recorded their research, ideas, and challenges they’ve sent each other during the isolation period as a series of videos which they exchanged daily and published publicly on the Internet at the same time. In June 2020, after two months of isolation, this abundance of individual material was brought back to the studio and jointly developed into individual sequences of the show ‘Superfluous’. Performance elements include a series of pre-prepared, but also unpredictable sequences, whose unique structure is determined by the performers themselves in each performance. This is where the various subtitles come from, giving additional meaning to the basic theme of the show. The play is always complemented and directed by guest musicians, who perform their own music (Damir Avdić, Tomaž Grom, or Samo Kutin) and lighting designer (Jaka Šimenc), which is an additional unpredictable challenge and incentive for the dancers of the EN-KNAP group. The International Conference ‘Youth Deal on Cultural Participation in Europe’ is part of the ‘UPAD’ (Invasion) project and will be held at the Liman Cultural Station from 21 to 23 March, organised by the Student Cultural Centre Novi Sad and partner institutions from the ‘Be SpectACTive!’ network.
The fourth edition of the ‘UPAD’ (Invasion) Theatre Festival will be held in the SCCNS Factory from 9 to 15 May 2022, within the Future of Europe programme arch.
The ‘UPAD’ (Invasion) Theatre Festival was launched three years ago by the Student Cultural Centre Novi Sad, as a partner organisation of the European project ‘Be SpectACTive!’ which deals with audience development. The basic idea of ‘Invasion’ is the promotion and popularisation of theatrical art for young people, and all performances in the programme were chosen by active young spectators.
