Men Do not Cry / SOC

A film screening and a discussion with the theme ‘Men Do not Cry‘ will be held on 26 June in the Creative District, within the Fortress of Peace programme arch.

Taking part in any war leaves scars on the lives of all participants. Alen Drljević’s film deals with a group of veterans from the Bosnia and Herzegovina war of the 1990s. They come from different warring sides. Fifteen years after the war, they are still coping with the post-traumatic stress disorder triggered by the atrocities of war. Gathered in a hotel intended for group psychotherapy, while exchanging their traumatic experiences and digging through the deepest wounds, the actors conclude that all of them are losers in war and that the only key to their salvation is reconciliation.

The film is based on factual events and characters, documenting a story of war, trauma, intolerance, confrontation and an attempt to come up with comprehension and reconciliation through the perception of others.

Panelists:

Alen Drljević, director (Sarajevo)

Vladan Beara (Trauma Center, Novi Sad)

The film will be broadcast with English subtitles.

The programme is supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum.
