The Tavern manual

The play ‘The Tavern Manual – Drama and Music Event about the Nation and Nationalism for Bars and Taverns’ will be staged in the restaurant ‘Pod orahom’, on 40 Kralja Petra I Boulevard on 7 April.

This play as part of the Future of Europe programme arch developed as a need to explore the theme of the nation, national identity, and nationalism.

We are in the context of a tavern, a place where various stories start, where people feel freer and more vulnerable. Guided by stories and myths from the past, we re-examine identities and attitudes, trying to understand where interracial and interethnic hatred comes from.

‘The Tavern Manual’ is performed by seven young people of different ages and diverse identities, who themselves have greatly contributed to the creation of the play by writing lyrics for songs in the play, sharing personal stories, and finding stage solutions for many scenes in the play.

‘The Tavern Manual’ does not set out to explain anything, but instead asks the audience questions to motivate them and encourage them to think, act, or create any form of movement or vision of a different life.

Admission to the show is paid for by purchasing drinks at the restaurant where the show takes place. It is also possible to order food during the show.

The number of seats is limited. Book your seats by email at youth@bgcentar.org.rs.
