Three Stupid Heads
From 1 to 4 September in District, at the Radionica, location 5 building, the ‘Three Stupid Heads’ video exhibition will be held, while the opening will take place on 1 September at 7 p.m.
The film screening will be shown within the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture programme arch.
The ‘Three Stupid Heads’ video performance tries to express some of the timeless problems of man and civilisation using modern technologies. These are the problems of identity and purpose of existence. The screenplay was inspired by the works of the greatest avant-garde dramatists of the 20th century, such as Danil Harms and Samuel Beckett, while it was written by Nenad Lančuški and directed by Ivana Janošev. In the videos, all three heads are portrayed by Stefan Ostojić.
‘Aren’t the three heads capable of inventing anything at all?’ – A question that naturally becomes the essence of the performance: As a sentence from the text that is posed by one of the heads at the peak of their search for purpose, while at the same time, it is a sentence that the authors authentically ask themselves during the work on this project and which adds a new layer of meaning: the wondering and eternal questioning of what the artist creates.
The ‘Three Stupid Heads’ is an artistic content that mimics philosophical questions, but presents them in a humorous way, appealing to a wide audience. In addition, given that we live in a world of screens today, consumers of this content will be able to see on phone screens, billboards, computers, TVs, etc., that are accessible to them, something that is not an everyday phenomenon. In other words, the project seeks to bring back the avant-garde through new digital media, but at the same time, to keep the authenticity of the avant-garde expression.
The urban artistic practice of Novi Sad has its foundations in the avant-garde activities of artists in the 1970s of the last century. The ‘Three Stupid Heads’ video performance uses the heritage and legacy of conceptual artists of the Youth Forum, group Kod, January-February-March and many others.
The project is part of the ‘Artists. Now!’ national call for artists, launched by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation within the Kaleidoscope of Culture.
From the very beginning, the implementation of the ‘Artists. Now!’ call has been supported by IDEA, which is part of the Mercator-S company.
