Vedran Ferizović Trio / Vojvodina Classical Guitar Fest

Vedran Ferizović Trio will hold a concert within the Vojvodina Guitar Fest and Migrations programme arch, in the Egység Cultural Station on 11 February at 7 p.m.

The trio uses copyright work by Vedran Ferizović and several songs by the band JAL as an inspiration for their music and texts. The trio’s instrumental set (vocal, guitar, double bass/bass guitar and clarinet/saxophone) is envisaged in a way so that double bass/bass guitar and guitar make bassline, harmony and rhythm, while free clarinet/saxophone sections comment and supplement to the text.

The texts are dedicated to love, urban philosophy and sociology, expressing different types of verses, sentiments, irony, storytelling, jokes, patriotism, etc. The music style is adjusted to text, thus showing the variation in harmony, rhythm, melody, peace and noise.

The trio consists of musicians Vedran Ferizović – vocal and guitar, Ervin Malina – double bass and bass guitar and Bogdan Ranković – clarinet and saxophone.

The development of the guitar in Novi Sad during the 20th century was overshadowed by its flourishing in other cities of Yugoslavia, especially Zagreb, Sarajevo and later, Belgrade. Guitarists such as Spiro Mytiakis and Jovan Kolarski lived and worked in Novi Sad. Thanks to them, the guitar was present at concert stages, within the Cultural and Artistic Society ‘Svetozar Marković’.

It wasn’t until 1979 that the ‘Isidor Bajić’ Music School began offering guitar lessons, with Ana Margaret-Vučak as a first pedagogue, who gradually managed to build foundations for further development of this art with her pioneering work.

Today, Novi Sad is the centre of guitar art where new generations of guitarists, who achieve very notable success both in the field of pedagogy and as performers, have been formed.
