Vox City

Theatre event ‘Vox City’ will be held in the Cultural Centre ‘Mladost’ Futog on 11 and 12 November as part of the  Other? Europe  programme arch.

The international socially engaged festival ‘Vox City’ will last three days, during which performances by European theatre authors will be presented, dealing with real problems of the local communities in which they were created.

All plays were created during work with local communities on various socio-political topics (old people, position of women, Roma, migrants, etc.). The goal of the festival is to use art to articulate the real needs and interests of citizens in the public space and influence changes in public policies.

‘Vox City’, or as it is also called ‘community theatre’, is a theatre created by the citizens themselves a theatre for all of us.

It will present to the audience two plays based on the community theatre methodology: ‘My Voice Travels’ and ‘When I Grow Up I’ll Be Old’.

Dealing with the issues and problems of (invisible) communities, giving voice to marginalized groups, through the artistic process and interventions based on theatre practices, the project explores hidden, invisible, marginalized, minority, i.e. value-different Serbia and Europe.

The project is part of the Other? Europe programme arch of the European Capital of Culture, which celebrates the creativity of marginalized groups, as well as alternative and avant-garde artistic expressions.
