Purple Is the Color / Flags of the Future
The ‘Flags of the Future’ programme within the Future of Europe will begin with a unique ECoC Cities Jazz Marathon in the Creative District on 28 April.
The band Purple is the Color will perform on Stage 2 at 8 p.m.
During a several-hour programme, 7 young jazz ensembles from the former, present and future European Capitals of Culture will present themselves to the audience of Novi Sad. This concert evening will show new tendencies and directions in jazz music in Europe to a wider audience.
Purple Is the Color is a band founded by pianist Simon Raab in 2016. The band includes Simon Raab (piano), Štěpán Flagar (saxophone), Martin Kocián (bass) and Michał Wierzgoń (drums). Since 2016, the band has had a long history of concerts and festivals. Some people say: ‘Purple Is the Color’ are the Beatles of jazz.
‘Jazz music of extremely elegant quality, the one that does not stay in the classical empire but reveals many interesting interrelationships with other styles. The Purple Is the Color band sails to unique musical shores, to shores where the dignified sound of jazz can develop its full splendor without conventional restrictions. The goal of the members is to enchant the audience with their music, release deep-rooted feelings and provoke emotions.’
The bands that will also perform: Any Key Trio as a representative of Tartu 2024, The Arthur Possing Quartet as a representative of Esch 2022, Kijube as a representative of Veszprém-Balaton 2023, Hauptman as a representative of Maribor 2012, drumbooty as a representative of Novi Sad 2022.
