Kijube / Flags of the Future

The ‘Flags of the Future’ programme, within the Future of Europe programme arch, will begin with a unique Jazz Marathon of European Capitals of Culture on 28 April.

On the Stage 4, Kijube will perform at 11 p.m.

During the multi-hour programme, the audience from Novi Sad will be introduced to 7 young jazz ensembles from former, current and future European capitals of culture. The concert will show new tendencies and directions in jazz music in Europe.

Kijube, founded in 2018 in Budapest, has a hybrid sound extracted from the world of downtempo, trip-hop and electronics. The singer and keyboardist of the trio is Kinga Judit Bende, who is also the author of most of the lyrics (the rest is the work of Tez Katayala, an Australian songwriter). The band’s first/debut song, Silent Creatures, won the third place in the 2018 ‘Promising Titans’ Hungarian song contest.

Initially, the band worked as a studio project, but after positive feedback from professional circles, the trio focused on the world of live concerts. In 2019, the band renewed and moved their base to Veszprém, where they are currently working on their album.

The following bands will also perform: Any Key Trio as a representative of Tartu 2024, The Arthur Possing Quartet as a representative of Esch 2022, Hauptman as a representative of Maribor 2012, Purple is the Color as a representative of Linz 2009, drumbooty as a representative of Novi Sad 2022.

Performances by Nu Jazz bands and DJs, who will present this innovative direction to the Novi Sad audience, are scheduled for 29 April in the Creative District.
