Arthur Possing Quartet / Flags of the Future
The ‘Flags of the Future’ programme unit, within the Future of Europe programme arch, will begin with a unique European Capitals of Culture Jazz Marathon in the Creative District on 28 April.
The band Arthur Possing Quartet will perform on Stage 2 at 9 p.m.
During the multi-hour programme, the audience from Novi Sad will be introduced to 7 young jazz ensembles from past, present, and future European Capitals of Culture. This concert evening will show a large audience new tendencies and directions in jazz music in Europe.
Arthur Possing is a young Luxembourgish pianist. Born in 1996, he grew up in a family, where the music took on an important role and was omnipresent at home. He started classical percussion at the age of 6 and classical piano at the age of 10, later in the class of well-known pianist Jean Muller. In 2009, he began jazz piano with Marc Mangen and in 2011, vibraphone with Guy Cabay. He studied jazz piano at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles with Eric Legnini.
The Arthur Possing Quartet was formed in 2013. The musicians are originally from Germany, France and Luxembourg and have studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood near Paris, and at the Musikhochschule Mannheim. Their repertoire consists of their own compositions, as well as tunes of jazzmen they really appreciate. The quartet plays modern jazz, with influences from all genres, without forgetting the tradition. In 2017, the quartet recorded its first album, entitled ‘Four Years’ which has won ‘Hits Couleurs Jazz’ in France.
The following bands will perform during the evening: Any Key Trio representing Tartu 2024, Kijube representing Veszprém-Balaton 2023, Hauptman as a representative of Maribor 2012, Purple is the Color as a representative of Linz 2009, drumbooty as a representative of Novi Sad 2022.
You can see details on other programmes, jazz concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and performances, which will be held in the Creative District on 28 April as part of the three-day programme ‘Flags of the Future’, on this link.
Performances by Nu Jazz ensembles and DJs, who will present this innovative direction to the Novi Sad audience, are scheduled for 29 April in the Creative District.
The ‘Flags of the Future’ programme is sponsored by: IDEA, DDOR, and A1 Srbija.
