Marko Louis / Flags of the Future
The famous Balkan soul musician Marko Louis will perform in the Creative District on 28 April at 10 p.m. on the Stage 2, as part of the Flags of the Future programme, which will begin with a jazz marathon.
In May 2015, Marko released his first solo album in English language called ‘Shine on me’. Since then, he dedicated himself to his solo career, which he is still working hard on today.
After the album ‘Shine on me’, he released his second solo album called ‘Beskraj’ in April 2017, which, unlike the previous album, has a more mature sound and is mostly in Serbian language. With the album ‘Beskraj’, he toured the entire region both at festivals and solo concerts that brought him great success.
In October 2019, Marko released his third studio album called ‘Euridika’. The album can be considered a continuation of a new sound that was recognized by the audience from Serbia, the region, and even beyond. In the spring of 2019, Marko presented his music live for the first time in Germany.
Inspired by the success and his audience growing year after year, Marko released his fourth studio album in December 2020 called ‘Sloboda’. The album ‘Sloboda’ gained importance, not only because of the situation in which the whole world found itself due to the pandemic but also because of its sound, which Marco has already presented in previous albums. In the first ten days, the album ‘Sloboda’ already exceeded the number of hits of all previous albums on music services such as Spotify, Deezer, etc.
In September 2021, Marko Louis released his first album of children’s songs called ‘Ja se zovem Slon’, which was well received by both children and parents.
In January 2022, Marko Louis recorded two songs inspired by the movie ‘Nečista krv’, which announced the arrival of the first Serbian film on the Netflix platform. The songs ‘Dude’ and ‘Ruse kose’ are in a way the leitmotifs of the film and are represented in several film sections.
In addition to original albums, Marko Louis has participated in numerous joint music projects and has been a guest in various eminent musical ensembles.
The following bands will also perform during the evening: Any Key Trio as a representative of Tartu 2024, The Arthur Possing Quartet as a representative of Ash 2022, Kijube as a representative of Veszprém-Balaton 2023, Hauptman as a representative of Maribor 2012, Purple is the Color as a representative of Linz 2009, and drumbooty as a representative Novi Sad 2022.
