Architectural Legacies
‘Architectural Legacies’ is a conference organised by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation as part of the Architecture Week of the Kaleidoscope of Culture programme arch. It will be held in the District in Novi Sad from 6 to 8 September.
The conference will deal with architecture in the European Capital of Culture – the reconstruction of the silk factory that was renovated into the Svilara Cultural Station, the protection of the Almaš Neighbourhood, the restoration of the Suburbium, the arrangement and repurposing of the largest industrial complex in Novi Sad, and the like.
At the conference, the methodology used by the Foundation during the conversion of old premises will be presented in order to achieve long-term benefits and increase the quality of life of all Novi Sad residents. The audience will have the opportunity to hear stories about all the architectural legacies of the European Capital of Culture, but also the experiences of guests from the country and abroad, from the architectural industry, who have worked and are working on similar projects.
Speakers at the ‘Architectural Legacies’ conference include: Jordi Pardo, an independent expert of the European Commission for the selection of European Capitals of Culture, Idis Turato, from Rijeka 2020, Ángel Portolés, representative of the Faro Convention Networks, Eva Riccio, representative of La Friche la Belle de Mai from Marseille, who worked on the adaptation of a similar space to District in France, Siniša Jokić, director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Dragana Konstantinović, professor at the Department of Architecture, Petar Đurđev, director of Historical Archives of the City of Novi Sad, and Marijan Majin, president of the ‘Almašani’ Society, among others.
