Following Roma Paths / Master Hall of the Novi Sad Fair
The Following Roma Paths project includes a digital catalogue that shows the folk costumes of the Roma in Vojvodina, which will along with a fashion show and a presentation of Roma folk dances and songs, present their heritage in the right way. It will be presented on 6 March in the Master Hall of the Novi Sad Fair.
The program will also present a new arrangement of the song “Gelem, gelem” and “Habanera” from the opera Carmen, which will be performed by opera singer Danijela Djordjevic with the Choir of the Jewish Community “Hashira”.
The Master of Dance dance school will present Russian-Roma choreography and Alegria choreography inspired by the Spanish-Roma tradition, which will be performed by Ivana Nikić.
We will have the opportunity to listen to the accordion performance of Danilo Jovanović, then a lecture on the journey and search for Spanish Roma and the development of flamenco, which will be held by lecturer Dr. Maja Vukadinović and finally, a mini concert by the group La sed gitana.
Afterwards, the project Following Roma Paths will be presented at the following locations 12 March in Sremski Karlovci and 13 March in the Barka Cultural Station, as part of the Migrations programme arch.
The organizer of the project is the Roma Association ‘Karlovačke zore’, a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization, which focuses its activities especially on educating the Roma population in health, culture, sports, information and education, ecology, employment and self-employment.
Partner of the Migration of Souls programme is the Novi Sad Fair, and the companies Globos osiguranje and Dijamant DOO also provide support.
