Choreodrama ROZA

The choreodrama ‘ROZA’ will be held within the ‘Heroines’ programme arch on the stage in the passage near the bookstore Bulevar Books. on 11 June at 7 p.m.

The choreodrama was based on the letters by Rosa Luxemburg that she sent to her friend from prison. It is also based on famous speeches for which she was sentenced to prison each time. This choreodrama is about the strength of a woman who gives her whole life to liberate society, return it to the right path, and offer it options, which are not only the wishes of a few in power but the wishes of each individual for freedom and unfettered life.

‘Roza’ offers a complete philosophy of life, relation to people, things and diversity. She set before herself a noble goal, regardless of obstacles and without looking back, aware that such a goal cannot be achieved in the course of a life, experiencing herself as a link in the chain of liberation. Without self-pity, she bravely moved through life, which was the path of love, passion and struggle. She firmly walked towards the freedom that she clearly saw in the distance. Her life ended tragically because of her strength and power, because the government was afraid of her words that travelled so easily to every man and gave him comfort and strength to fight in the right way, for himself and every man on planet earth. Thinking of racial, sexual, social, class, freedom of speech, opinion, learning and creation, freedom is something that one cannot live without.

This choreodrama deals with all the above issues and topics and brings such a great idea closer to the audience, which, not so long ago, was the only ideal of a certain group and thanks to which we do not think about many things today. However, have we continued fighting and are we spreading that idea? Are we satisfied with a free vote in the elections and the possibility of education for women? Have we broken the chain and stopped the further development of freedom and entered the labyrinth of capitalism and functioning for the sake of others? Has the well-trodden path of Rosa Luxemburg covered indifference, selfishness and fatigue with ‘modern life’? Has acceptance led to her path becoming a dead-end into which only the most conscious just take a peek from time to time, without intending to roll up their sleeves? It has not. Even today, some brave women and men fight for our freedom, but isn’t that freedom sad when others are fighting for us? This choreodrama is a wake-up call. The performance is part of the ‘Autonomous Festival of Women’ (AFŽ) programme.
