Circle’s Circle

The ‘Circles’s Circle’ exhibition will be held in the studios at the Petrovaradin Fortress from 5 to 28 August as part of The Danube Sea programme arch.

The opening of the exhibition will be held in front of Duga kasarna on 5 August at 8:22 p.m.

During the exhibition, each art space – studio will be marked by a sign on the entrance door with the inscription: CIRCLE’S CIRCLE – open studios, Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022.

Before the Petrovaradin Fortress, in the Suburbium, in Beogradska Street 2, there is the open art studio of Radule Bošković, where the artist will personally present acrylics on canvas on 6, 12 and 13 August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The art critic Danilo Vuksanović calls Bošković’s acrylics ‘painted clepsydras’.

In the ITD Gallery, Duga kasarna, Pekara 1, there is a space at the top of the stairs leading to the Petrovaradin Fortress, where the graphic designer Branislav Radošević creates. He will present the ‘Serbian Athens Between Two Centuries’ exhibition, made with a combined technique. The gallery is open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. That is not all, because the artist Gordana Avdić, who also creates at the ITD Gallery, will present herself with her solo exhibition of mosaics ‘Stone on the Rock’ on 6, 7 and 8 August, and will also hold an open workshop for making mosaics.

This part of the fortress along the ramparts is called Duga kasarna, from the famous clock that is the only one that shows the ‘Novi Sad time’, where the small hand shows the minutes and the big hours so that the sailors from the Danube Sea can see from afar what time it is. There is Studio no. 8 in which one can peek into the world of film and theatre in terms of scenography created by the artist Valentina Božović. On 9, 10 and 11 August, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the artist will plan and create artistic and technical sketches for the film in front of the audience. She will also display the sketches and prints of frames from the films she worked on, as well as sketches and photos for plays for which she was hired as a scenographer.

Furthermore, in front of Studio no. 8, the artist Zoran Babin will present a selection of his graphics from the cycle ‘Serbian Dinar through History’, as well as the painting ‘Tree’ and an homage painting dedicated to Slobodan Bata Nedeljković on 6 and 7 August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Studio no. 9, the artist Ivana Kosanović is waiting for you. She will personally present her artwork on 13, 20 and 27 August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Studio no. 11 you can see a retrospective of paintings, oil on canvas by Borivoj Popržan. Under the name ‘Oba Tri’ are hidden paintings created from 2000 to the present day, which you can see on 9, 10 and 11 August  from 4 p.m. to 12 p.m.

In Studio no. 12, Bojan Kiridžić, the artist and academic painter, creates. On  6, 7 and 8 August from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the artist will present art paintings from the ‘Azulejos’ cycle.

In Studio no. 13, the artist, academic painter and graphic artist Duško Stojanović, and his project ‘Venus of Pannonia’ are waiting for you. The project consists of 35 paintings, oil on canvas, which have been created for the last four years.

In Studio no. 14 on 11 and 12 August from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., an independent exhibition of objects by the academic painter-conservator Miroslav Nonin will be presented. The exhibition is called ‘PriroDAR’, but it can also be ‘PrirodART’. 18 August will be the Day of Remembrance an homage to the famous painter, restorer and conservator Dušan Nonin (1924-2001), as part of the ‘Circle’s Circle’ exhibition. From 6 p.m., a documentary film about Dušan Nonin and his project – the relocation of the paintings of the Piva monastery, will be shown. Author of the film is Stanko Popović

In Studio no. 15, academic sculptor Milena Miškov creates. The public will be able to see the exhibition of her sculptures and useful ceramics ‘VinЧanologija – Dunavski meandri’ outdoors, in front of her studio on 12, 13 and 14 August from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In Studio no. 16 is Slobodan Mojak, who will present his artistic activity through the projection of video material, as well as through the act of photography workshop, on 11, 12 and 13 August from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.

In Studio no. 19 is the academic painter Dušan Todorović, retired full professor of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. In his studio, the Art Group ‘Urban District – 1609’ will have an exhibition ‘Virtual – Real’ that the public can see on 10, 11 and 12 August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Studio no. 20 is the academic sculptor Andreja Vasiljević Baćo, who will present the exhibition ‘One Motif/Topic – Different Techniques’ to the audience on 13, 14 and 21 August from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In Studio no. 21 is the work of artist Srđan Soldatović, who with his collaborators Sanja Soldatović-Maletić, PhD, Senka Nedeljković, Siniša and Strahinja Soldatović, have a rich programme within the ‘Circle’s Circle’ exhibition. Studio Soldatović will be open on 6, 7, 12, 13, 14 August and 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and among other things, the public will be able to see an exhibition in memory of the famous sculptor Jovan Soldatović (1920-2005) ‘Hirošime svesti i savesti’ – a selection of photographs of his monumental works, as well as Srđan Soldatović’s ‘Mixmediaart’ works from several of the artist’s cycles.

In Studio no. 22, Ana-Leda Pop will present the exhibition ‘Vremeplov Predaka’ – a collection of unique accessories, inspired by the jewellery of rulers and ornaments from various monasteries of medieval Serbia on 19, 20 and 21 August. An exhibition by Pavel Pop’s drawings ‘Homage to Great Artists’ will be presented in this studio in memory of the artist. Furthermore, there will be a joint exhibition by Ana-Leda Pop and Suzana Sanković stage and costume design exhibition ‘Imaginary (un)Reality’. The studio is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Near the parking lot of Hotel ‘Leopold’, near Studio 61, there are two art studios. In Studio no. 9, Maja Budžarov and Predrag Šiđanin, who form the artistic group ‘MP_art’ and have been creating together since 2003, work. They will be open to public on 7, 10 and 26 August from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will present the artworks of the ‘MP_art’ group.

Next to them, in Studio 9b, the academic painter Vladislav Šešlija, the manager of the Novi Sad Gallery ‘The Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzić’, paints. For 5, 6 and 7 August, the artist has prepared an exhibition of paintings for the public, as well as the performance ‘Cleanliness is Half of Health’, in which he and his collaborators will collect garbage in front of the studio. Director and environmentalist Dušan Varda will record with a camera. The studio will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A walk through the Petrovaradin Fortress can also start from the Hornverk, which also houses art studios. Hornverk is located on the road to the Academy of Arts at the Petrovaradin Fortress.

In Studio no. 3 in Horverk, graphic designer Simonida Todorović, professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and graphic designer, Branislav Dobanovački, full professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, in retirement, will have an author presentation. The studio will be open to the public on 25 and 27 August from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The artists prepared a projection of ‘Calligraphic Forms and Prints’ a digital record and ‘Calligraphy’ a presentation of works.

In Studio no. 4 in Hornverk the young sculptor Natalija Ranković, who is currently in her master’s studies at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, works. She will present a joint exhibition of her sculptures and graphics by Lidija Krnjajić, a colleague from the master’s studies. The studio will be open to the public on 22, 23 and 26 August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
