‘From the First Lady/Comrade to the Defiant Licaner: What Jovanka Broz Meant to Us’ lecture will be held at the Gallery of Matica Srpska on 26 June, within the ‘The Partisan and Fragonard. Collection of Jovanka Broz’ project.
Ivana Pantelić, PhD, is a historian, employed as a research associate at the Institute for Contemporary History in Belgrade and is one of the founders of the Centre for Yugoslav Studies. She independently published the monographs ‘Partisans as Citizens – Social Emancipation of Women Partisans in Serbia 1945-1953’ and ‘The Rise and Fall of the First Lady/Comrade of Yugoslavia, Jovanka Broz and the Serbian Public 1952-2013’. As a co-author with Danilo Šarenac, she published the monograph ‘Two Halves of a Memory: Partisan Diaries as a Historical Source of the Second World War’.
