Interview with the Artist Mija Ćuk / Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection

Miroslav Karić will have a public conversation with the artist Mija Ćuk on 16 July at 7 p.m., during the exhibition ‘Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’.

The multimedia exhibition ‘Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’ will be set up during the Heroines program arch, between 20 May and 15 July in the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection.

In a dialogue with Mija Ćuk, a photographer and photography theorist, Miroslav Karić, curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, will present her artistic poetics. Mija’s oeuvre can be viewed as ‘almost photographic’ because it uses the medium of photography to see the overlooked, instead of documenting the obvious and the visible. The work includes folk technologies such as slide shows, found photographs, print screen images, and often exhibits in the form of fragments and unfinished installations. This artist and artistic director at the Artget Gallery of the Belgrade Cultural Centre for the 2022 season has a master’s degree in photography from the University of Westminster, London, and worked, among other things, as an associate lecturer in photography at the Novi Sad Art Academy (2015/19). She is one of the authors of texts in the catalog of the exhibition ‘Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’.

Thursday: 1 p.m. – 9 p.m.
