Kino McHugh

Other? Europe film programme brings a dance performance and performance by Japanese choreographer and musician Kino (Yukino) McHugh called ‘Spring Rain’, which will be held in the Cultural Center of Novi Sad on 9 November at 6 p.m. as part of the Other? Europe  programme arch. The performance will be followed by guitarist Noah concert.

The performance is a tribute to a traditional dance style in Japan called Nihon Buyo. The performance ‘Spring Rain’ is a platform where cultures intersect and explore traditional and contemporary art forms under the influence of cultural dance.

A simple selection of music with only one instrument creates the aura of a Japanese village. The movements are inspired by the green serenity and maps of the country covered with endless rice fields. The performance will present a journey within the soul influenced by the humble way of thinking of people in Japan. The aim of the performance is to pay tribute to the lessons learned from the influence of culture.

Contribution in the search for different within the Other? Europe programme arch brings the ‘Japanese Serbian Film Festival’ based on the cultural exchange between Japan and Serbia through a specific model of programming, learning and practice.

Japanese Serbian Film Festival will be held in the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad and in the District from 9 to 13 November. In the European Capital of Culture title year, guest appearances by famous Japanese actors and directors will be implemented in Novi Sad as part of the festival.

The audience can expect four groups of activities that are thematically divided: sound (multimedia exhibition), sight (film programme), body (performance), mind (panel, workshop, masterclass).

The event is accessible to people with physical disabilities.
