Limenka Theatre Fest
The children’s theatre festival ‘Limenka Theatre Fest’ will be held at the Egység Cultural Station from 24 to 28 July as part of The Danube Sea programme arch. Within the Festival, 9 theatre plays for children and youth will be performed by 9 theatres from Serbia and the region.
‘Limenka Theatre Fest’ originated from the ‘Limenkica-ulaznica’ event, as the manifestation that combines education of children and youth on environmental protection and recycling and theatre art in an unusual way.
So far, over 70,000 children and parents have participated in this event, and more than half a million cans of drinks have been collected. It was named by the City Magazine’s poll for the best non-profit campaign in Serbia in 2014. ‘Limenka Theatre Fest’ is the next step in the improvement and development of the event and is the result of cooperation between the project holder UG Eco Art, Children’s Theatre ‘Čarapa’ and ‘Škola plus’ with the support of ‘Ball packaging Europe Belgrade’ and the ‘Svaka limenka se računa’ Foundation.
The event is based on the idea that the most effective way to influence children’s awareness of the concept of recycling is to offer them a model in which recycled material has its value expressed in the socially responsible currency – ALU-COIN.
ALU-COIN is a coin made of aluminum that has a unique stamp on one side. Can-bearers receive it in exchange for empty cans (5 cans-1 ALU COIN) and can use it as a means of payment within the event. With it, they buy tickets for a theatre play for children, as well as various other useful things intended primarily for children – books, bags, pens, notebooks, posters, etc.
The programme of the event, as well as the festival, contains a rich educational pre-programme and theatre programme.
The youngest who come to the theatre for the first time (2-7 years of age) in the baby period from 10 a.m. every day, and those older (12+) in the period from 6.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. will be able to watch nine theatre plays for children by theatres from Serbia and the region.
