Romantic Reading: Love Letters to Birds / Becoming an Island
As part of the multidisciplinary event “Becoming an Island”, a gathering called “Romantic Reading: Love Letters to Birds” will be held on July 28, from 7 to 8 p.m., on Strand beach.
The event is part of The Danube Sea programme arch and is held as part of the ‘Štrand Pavilion’ programme, which will last from 22 to 31 July on the most famous Novi Sad beach.
Join us for a sixty-minute romantic reading session for the little buzzer on the Strand!
Join the reading of love letters in a romantic setting next to the Danube, written by bird experts, bird lovers and even simple observers.
‘Becoming an Island’ is a pilot programme of The Danube Transformation Agency for Agency (DTAFA) led by artists Solmaz Farhang, Alexandra Fruhstorfer, Ege Kökel and Lena Violetta Leitner.
The experimental agency developed a pioneering step by step training programme that enables human beach goers to become an island for the Little Ringed Plover (Charadrius dubius). After successfully completing the courses you will be well equipped with skills and tools to become a resting, mating and breeding ground for this migratory bird during their seasonal stay in Novi Sad. DTAFA combines visual art, design, science and advocacy for the future of the Danube.
From 22 to 31 July visitors and casual beachgoers are invited to learn more about the pilot program and try out some of the training units while enjoying Danubian refreshments at DTAFA’s pop-up booth.
Come by and embody the restoration of the bird’s habitat with us!
