Woman as Inspiration for Female Artists – Lecture / Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection
The lecture on the topic ‘Woman as Inspiration for Female Artists’, will be held by Jasmina Jakšić Subić on 7 July at 7 p.m. during the exhibition ‘Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’.
The multimedia exhibition ‘Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’ will be set up during the Heroines programme arch between 20 May and 15 July in the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection.
Through thematic examples from Pavle Beljanski’s collection, different perceptions and roles of women in the artwork of seven representatives of national modern art from the Memorial Collection will be pointed out. Various depictions of female characters of different generations, ranging from an introspective approach in self-portraits to a more general approach in portraits, nudes and scenes, allows us to see stylistic changes in the opuses of artists, but also the view of women in modern art. Through comparative reading and contextualisation, we will also address the contemporary perception of these artistic achievements and their importance in mapping and positioning women and women’s creativity in the national culture.
Memorial Collection work hours:
Wednesday – Sunday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday: 1 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Admission is free.
