New Serbian Music for Accordion
A concert entitled ‘New Serbian Music for Accordion’ will be held on the ‘Pera Dobrinović’ stage at the Serbian National Theatre on 20 May.
The world premiere of Snežana Nešić’s ‘Turquoise’, which she also conducts, will be presented at this concert, as well as the work of composer Svetozar Nešić for saxophone and contemporary orchestra in which the accordion has a leading role.
The festival will be held from 18 to 21 May, as part of the Heroines programme arch. Since the accordion is still perceived as a male instrument, the programme, which highlights female artists, accordionists, composers, organizers, seeks to support and empower all those young accordion artists who struggle with imposed stereotypes in their schooling and artistic work. It is dedicated to promotion of women in art who, with their energy and commitment, created the history of the accordion in 20th and 21st century.
As part of the festival, a concert ‘Memories’ by Bogdan Ranković and Ethnoforia will be held on the ‘Pera Dobrinović’ stage at the Serbian National Theatre on 21 May as part of the 7.International Accordion and Chamber Music Festival ‘Eufonija’ .
Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the Serbian National Theatre at a price of RSD 600. Regular theatre discounts apply to students and retirees.
Erste Bank is the partner of the Heroines programme arch.
The event is accessible to people with physical disabilities.
