Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection
The ‘Heroines of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection’ multimedia exhibition, under the Heroines programme arch, will run from 20 May to 17 July in the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection.
The exhibition will feature seven women artists from the Pavle Beljanski collection: Nadežda Petrović, Zora Petrović, Ljubica Sokić, Milica Zorić, Vidosava Kovačević, Liza Križanić and Leposava St. Pavlović. The project will also include the presentation of the women photographers and artists who used photography in their works during the second half of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century.
Photography was chosen as a medium that connects artists of different styles, from surrealism to conceptual to contemporary artistic practice. As a form of expression close to women’s artistic and political language from its start, photography is also one of the first forms of economic emancipation of women.
The project includes paintings, drawings, photographs and printed material with the accompanying catalogue, seven video presentations, a panel discussion and workshops.
