The Play ‘Dust’ / Vila

We will be treated to the theatre play ‘Dust’, based on the drama text by György Spiró, one of the most famous contemporary Hungarian writers, and adapted and directed by Veljko Mićunović, as part of the ‘Vila’ family festival in Vrdnik on Fruška Gora, on 5 June at 9 p.m.

This tragicomedy is about a family living on the edge of poverty. Well-known acting tandem Nataša Ninković and Zoran Cvijanović will show a middle-aged married couple who live modestly, until the moment when the husband wins the lottery prize – over 2 million. The couple, shocked by the fact that they got rich overnight, are trying to agree on what they will do in the future and how they will live. Instead of joy because of winning, feelings of happiness and fear, excitement and disappointment intertwine. They fail to reconcile their dreams and needs, only to finally feel the horror of the life experience that wealth brings.

The play ‘Dust’ premiered in November 2015 and has been on the permanent repertoire of the National Theatre in Belgrade ever since.

The ‘Vila (Fairy)’ festival will be held between 3 and 5 June in Vrdnik on Fruška Gora, the oldest national park in Serbia. The Gothic fairy Tarja Turunen, classical music fairies – violinist Simon Lamsma and violist Tabea Zimmermann, four fairies that make up the band Warpaint, Jenny Berggren from the band Ace of Base, as well as regional fairies Natali Dizdar and Kaliopi, the fairy of Yugoslav theatre Anica Dobra, and many others, will be part of a unique experience this festival will offer in the magical ambience of Fruška Gora through various content – plays, concerts, dance performances, poetry, film, gastronomy, rock camp for girls, as well as programmes for the youngest. You can find the entire festival programme at this link.
